Mountain Prey - Lyn Gala

What a story! You have to take everything in stride, otherwise the magic is gone. "Mountain logic has a lot more logic than people might think" -- a "backward land where good is bad and suicide is a choice and killing someone you’ve known since they were born makes sense". That is the motto of this book. If you can abide by it, then it all makes sense and you will definitely enjoy Stunt and Alex's story.

Stunt is the most pushy sub ever, who likes to get a rise (both literally and figuratively) out of someone, even while being held captive. I laughed every two-three lines while reading this. His mouthy personality is truly endearing. And it made my heart melt to see him caring so much for Alex. I wasn't sure how to translate the tension felt throughout that first meeting with Elijah. Would the old man have truly killed Stunt? Or were there some deeper emotions in the man which would have prevented him from committing the murder? I felt like smiling seeing the almost carefree attitude Stunt adopted while the verbal exchange took place but then I thought perhaps I should have taken the threats and long glances more serious. However, the situation was quickly defused and Alex and Stunt were rushed into a shotgun wedding and enjoyed their wedding night before having to face Garrido.

Again, you have to take this in stride to actually enjoy it. I mean, what were the chances that an experienced Dom (favoring bondage) would stumble upon the one gay person in the whole county favouring such activities during their free time? And what were the chances that the only solution for keeping everyone alive and invested in going through with the plan would be to have the pair married?

But I enjoyed the banter and funny remarks and sexually charged tension between Alex and Stunt. I liked Alex for his devotion and commitment, especially for willing to sacrifice his life to avenge his brother and then later for giving up his plans in order to save Stunt. I was drooling at the BDSM scenes and appreciated their originality (even with Stunt being able to come 2-3 times per session - that was definitely something I would have to watch in order to believe *wide grin*).

All in all, a very good read. It has plenty of action, suspense, a dash of romance, enough BDSM to keep you hot and bothered and two very likable characters. 4.2 stars
